Mike Krzyzewski's chase of an unprecedented milestone is coming to FOX Sports.
Duke's rout of Pitt on Monday gave Coach K his 999th career victory, putting him one shy of a never-before-seen mark in Division I college basketball: 1,000 wins. His first crack at it will come Sunday, when the Blue Devils visit Madison Square Garden to take on St. John's on FOX. The pregame show starts at 1:30 p.m. ET and the game tips shortly after 2.
Need more Coach K? You can also head over to FOX Sports GO on Sunday to watch our "Coach K Cam." We'll have an isolated camera on Krzyzewski throughout the game Sunday, starting at 1:30. The live stream will be available unauthenticated, meaning everyone can head over to FOXSportsGo.com and enjoy the Coach K Cam regardless of their cable provider.
Can't wait for Sunday? Head over to our FOX Sports Twitter page and follow our hashtag #Coach1K all week long leading up to the game.
For his part, Krzyzewski is taking it all with the attitude that one no doubt needs to amass such a win total."It means we're 16-2," Krzyzewski said, referring to his team's overall record after Monday's win. "That's exactly what that means. And hopefully we can be 17-2 the next game we play, and that's the way we approach everything. We'll continue to approach it that way."
Coach K is 999-308 during his 40-year career. It is fitting that his first chance to become the first men's coach in Division I history to reach four figures comes in Madison Square Garden. That's also where in 2011 he passed Bob Knight as the winningest men's coach in college basketball's top tier.
St. John's (12-5) won't be an easy win. The Red Storm were ranked as high as No. 15 at the end of December before a 1-3 slump saw them tumble out of the top 25.
