Mick Cronin cleared to return as Cincinnati head coachScott Phillips Mar 30, 2015, 4:45 PM EDT Mick Cronin, Mike Aresco AP Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin has been cleared to return to the sidelines, according to a release from the school. The Bearcats made the 2015 NCAA tournament as interim head coach Larry Davis took over after Cronin was sidelined for precautionary reasons. Cronin was away from games since Dec. 20 as he was dealing with a non-life threatening vascular condition known as arterial dissection. “I would like to thank the entire University of Cincinnati community and administration for their support during the past three months,” Cronin said in the release. “I also would like to thank UC Health and its neurosurgery department, especially Dr. Norberto Andaluz and Dr. Todd Abruzzo, for the care that I have received. “Obviously, I’m excited to be coaching again, but most importantly, I’m grateful to be 100 percent healthy.” Cincinnati finished 7-2 in Cronin’s nine games of coaching while associate head coach Larry Davis went 16-9 and help the Bearcats to a 23-11 record on the season. “We are pleased Mick is able to fully resume his coaching duties,” Director of Athletics Mike Bohn said in the release. “His behind-the-scenes leadership was critical in last season’s success coupled with Larry’s direction and the players’ focus on the court throughout the year.” It’s good to see Cronin return, even better he’s 100 percent.
