Report: Memphis transfer Kuran Iverson immediately eligible at Rhode IslandScott Phillips Jun 1, 2015, 4:50 PM EDT Kuran Iverson, Greg Lewis..AP Rhode Island received some encouraging news on Monday as forward Kuran Iverson will be eligible to play right away. The NCAA got rid of hardship waivers, but Iverson transferred into Rhode Island before the rule was changed, so he was allowed to apply to play right away. The news of Iverson’s eligibility was first reported by ESPN‘s Jeff Goodman. The 6-foot-9 Iverson is talented, but he never found his footing in two seasons at Memphis. The rising junior transferred away from the Tigers during the 2014-15 season and found a new spot in the Atlantic 10. Iverson averaged 4.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game during his sophomore season and he was suspended by Memphis head coach Josh Pastner and made matters worse by retweeting criticisms of Paster on Twitter. The Connecticut native was ranked as the No. 28 overall recruit in the Class of 2013, according to Rivals, and was a highly-touted four-star recruit coming out of high school. Iverson was going to be able to play this season regardless of the waiver, but now he doesn’t have to sit out the first semester like he was expected to do.
