Kentucky’s John Calipari named Coach of the Year by Associated PressRaphielle Johnson Apr 3, 2015, 3:23 PM EDT Getty Images In news that surprised no one, the Associated Press announced Friday afternoon that Kentucky head coach John Calipari has been named AP Coach of the Year. Calipari’s Wildcats, who are his fourth Final Four team in the last five seasons, are 38-0 heading into Saturday’s matchup with No. 1 Wisconsin. The matchup is the third Final Four rematch in the history of the event, with the Wildcats winning last year’s game on an Aaron Harrison three-pointer with 5.7 seconds remaining. Kentucky won both the SEC regular season and tournament titles, and they’ve been the top-ranked team in the country all season long and they were the unanimous number one in 12 of the weekly AP polls. With a nine-man rotation loaded with individual talents, Calipari’s managed to get all involved to push towards a common goal which is now just two wins away. Two ACC coaches finished behind Calipari in the voting, with Virginia’s Tony Bennett coming in second and Notre Dame’s Mike Brey third.
